Happiness Is...

United States Institute of Peace Monday night VABeau and I attended a grand opening party for the new USIP building on the National Mall. VABeau worked on this phenomenal building so he and several of his co workers were invited to the event. I like to visit his projects throughout their construction and it's always so fun to see the finished product.
It is a beautiful building with an incredible view. We had a great evening sipping champagne and peace martinis, hearing from speakers such as Madeline Albright and the architect, Moshe Safdie, and listening to the beautiful live music of Herbie Hancock. Overall it was a great night and definitely made our Monday pretty special!

ClementinesDecember always brings one of my favorite fruits, clementines! They are the perfect snack, easy to eat on the go, sweet, and actually good for you. They also are the perfect size. I can never, nor would I want to eat a whole orange in one sitting, but a clementine is the perfect portion! Any other clementine lovers out there?

Urban Decay Naked PaletteI've heard other bloggers rave about this eye shadow set for awhile now so I finally pulled the trigger and ordered one for myself a couple of months ago. Best decision ever! I haven't used any other eye shadow since. It comes with 12 different eye shadow colors and I love them all. They are for the most part pretty neutral and are great for everyday wear. If you're looking for a new eyeshadow definitely give this one a try. It's totally worth the $$$!

Chick-Fil-A Bowl
UVA rarely gets a good bowl game but this year was the exception. I am so excited to watch them play in the Chick-Fil-A bowl! Going to a bowl game has been on my bucket list and while VABeau and I would love to go, unfortunately I work New Years this year. But you better believe we will be cheering on our Hoos from home and hoping that next year brings another bowl game for us!

Four the RecordMiranda Lambert is one of my favorite country artists so I couldn't wait for her latest album, Four the Record. I absolutely loved her last album and still listen to it so I was worried that her latest one wouldn't live up to it. Fortunately, I was wrong! Whenever I'm not listening to Christmas music (a la Michael Buble) I'm listening to Miranda. I love Four the Record and even had a hard time picking my favorite song but here is one of my favorites!

What's making you happy on this Friday in December?

My Photo
I'm a newlywed, labor and delivery nurse, food lover, self-proclaimed wine-o, and shopping addict. I was raised in southern VA, went to school in central VA(Go Hoos!), and currently live in northern VA with my adorable husband. I consider myself to be a true Virginian, hence the blog title. I plan to chronicle our adventures as newlyweds in the DC area while sharing some of my favorite things.
