My Makeup Necessities

I've already shared my Favorite Hair Products and my Favorite Skincare Products on this blog but I am probably most excited to share my favorite makeup. I wore very little, if any, makeup in high school, I slowly added eyeliner and mascara in college, and was introduced to an amazing product, bronzer, soon after college that finally peaked my interest in all things makeup. My relationship with makeup was pretty neutral for most of my life. In fact, up until 2 years ago, most of my makeup came from CVS. But after having my make up done for my wedding and various bridesmaid stints over the past few years, and seeing how good my face could look, I became addicted to buying and using quality makeup. So just months after my wedding, I took all of my Birthday money to the makeup counters at Nordstromand completely revamped my makeup drawer and routine.

Lets start at the beginning with my favorite primer:
This BB Cream is the newest addition to my makeup drawer and I am obsessed. I like to put some sort of SPF on my face each morning and this cream has SPF and so much more. It also acts as a primer and for more casual days, it's the only coverage I use.
Prior to trying the Smashbox version, I was hooked on Bobbi Brown's Tinted Moisturizer with SPF. I still love it and would recommend it to anyone.
I've never been a concealer girl. It just always seemed so heavy. So I prefer to top my BB Cream with this amazing powder. One side of the sponge gives a more concealer-like coverage while the other side gives more of a light powder-like coverage. If I don't use the BB Cream first, I go for the concealer side. But if I'm just looking for a little something on top of the cream I use the powder side. It's the best of both worlds.

It seems I always have at least one breakout or imperfection on my face at any given moment. So I always need a touch up stick for those pesky spots that pop up. I also use this under my eyes when the dark circles persist even after using my powder and BB cream. I usually touch up with this stick after applying everything else and some days (the good ones) I don't even need it all. Of all of the touch up sticks/concealer sticks I have tried, Bobbi Brown's has to be my favorite.
The girl at the Bobbi Brown counter literally changed my life when I sat in her chair with my Birthday money in hand. Until that day, I paid zero attention to my eye brows besides the regular plucking. But she showed me that brushing a little shadow over my brows to fill them in can do wonders. After she showed me this trick I literally got compliments on my eyebrows for weeks. Eyebrows were definitely not something I ever expected to get complimented on but I'll any I can get!

She also hooked me up with this brow brush to apply the shadow,
and the I finish and shape them with this clear mascara. Just make sure you have a professional pick the shadow out for your brows. I never would have suspected that a color called "slate" would work for me but thanks to her guidance, it does!
I first met this amazing product when it came with my Urban Decay eyeshadow palette. Now I can't imagine doing my eyes without it. I just spread a little dab of this stuff on my eye lids before brushing on eye shadow and the makeup is guaranteed to stay on for days!
Lets just say any other eye shadow in my makeup drawer has been severely neglected since this baby arrived. It has every color I could ever need!
I typically only use eye liner for nights out and rarely put it on for work or day time activities. It's just too much work, in my opinion. But when I do use eye liner, I rely on an old drug store faithful. These pencils are simple to use and it's very easy to control the amount of impact you want to make with them.

I tend to alternate between too mascaras. Since I go through mascara more quickly than anything else so I try to make my good one's last. My absolute favorite one is BB's extreme party mascara. It's perfect for making my puny eyelashes stand out (as much as they can). But I tend to reserve this mascara for the night time
while my favorite drug store version gets used for work and day time.
Last but not least, is quite possibly my favorite product of all. This brick is ridiculously versatile. I use it as a blush/bronzer on my cheeks and even apply some to the corners of my eyes to help brighten them no matter how much sleep I've had.

So that's the run down of what you can find in my makeup drawer. Now please help a girl out and share your favorite makeup because I'm always on the look out for great new products!

  2. I got the Naked2 Palette and I love it. I'm also a big fan of Bobbi Brown and Mac (their gel primer is an exact dup for Smashbox's photofinish).
