A Weekend in Indiana

The fact that I am just now posting a recap of last weekend only proves how busy this week has been so far.  Recovering from a weekend away and three very busy days at work have left this girl a bit frazzled.  But I have finally found a moment to sit down with my computer and I can't wait to share some snapshots from our fantastic weekend with VABeau's family in Indiana.

Friday morning we started our 9 hour journey to Indianapolis.  The drive was surprisingly enjoyable and I loved seeing the first signs of Fall as we drove through the Maryland and Pennsylvania mountains.  We made it to VABeau's sister's apartment in Indy, just in time for happy hour, where we were treated to our first delicious pumpkin beer of the season.

VABeau's parent's joined us a few hours later and our group of 6 headed to Mesh for a phenomenal meal.  After dinner we said goodbye to Katie and Jake, made the short drive to VABeau's hometown, and settled in at his parent's house.

Saturday morning started with a fun 5k for my in-laws and I.  We then spent the rest of the morning enjoying the perfect weather on their patio.  By the afternoon we were ready for an adventure so my father-in-law took us to their gun club for a little shooting.  I shot my first hand gun which seemed very different from the shot guns I have shot in the past.  Lets just say I could use quite a bit more practice since I rarely hit the target!

Saturday night we had a delicious dinner on the patio before getting ready for VABeau's 10 year high school reunion.  We squeezed in a few drinks by the fire before heading to the local bar to meet his former classmates.  The turn out wasn't great for the event, but VABeau seemed to have a good time and I really enjoyed meeting some of his high school crowd.

Sunday morning started with delicious bloody marys and a short road trip to Indianapolis for the Colts game.  Indy is such a fun football town and we had a blast walking around the stadium, tailgating, and hitting up the local bars before the game.  I'm obsessed with the stadium and loved getting to go to a game where they opened the roof.

We had so much fun catching up with Katie and Jake and getting to spend the whole weekend with my in-laws, that we decided to try to make a Summer/Early Fall Indiana trip an annual thing!
