We had an amazing time in Puerto Rico this past week. Five days of sunshine and water were just what the doctor ordered. I feel like a whole new woman after a mini vacation in the sun with VABeau.
We were lucky enough to have a direct flight to San Juan Thursday morning. We picked up our rental car at the airport, checked in at our beautiful resort (The Gran Melia Golf Resort), and were seated poolside by 1:00 in the afternoon.
Apparently our resort has a tough time getting pool goers to wear their bikini tops...
We spent our Thursday afternoon here with easy access to the pool bar.
Imagine my surprise when I looked up from my Kindle to see this guy staring me in the face. Apparently iguanas and other various lizards make their home on our resorts grounds.
After a day at the pool and a morning of travel we decided to have dinner as close to our room as possible so we tried out the resort Asian restaurant, Nami. The food was decent but rather overpriced in my opinion. But you can't beat dining just minutes from your room so it was well worth it.
Friday morning started with pastries, coffee, and a gorgeous view from the resort lobby.
The rest of the morning was spent on the incredible beach a few steps from our room.
I quickly found my favorite spot on the beach
While VABeau tested the water.
The rest of the day was spent at the pool with another lizard friend.
Friday night we ventured out of the resort for dinner.
VABeau's coworker recommended an amazing Puerto Rican restaurant, La Estacion.

We made friends with another couple at the pool during the day and invited them on our culinary adventure. Thanks to them, we actually have a picture of the two of us from the trip!
I ordered the classic Puerto Rican dish, Mofongo Relleno with Chicken. It consists of mashed green plantains filled with deliciously seasoned chicken. I was an immediate fan and all four of us agreed that La Estacion was an incredible restaurant.
Starting our days on the beach quickly became a tradition during our trip.

There's no better way to spend a Saturday morning.
After a couple of hours on the beach we left the resort behind for a day of sightseeing in Old San Juan.
Our Saturday adventures get their own post tomorrow!

That looks so amazing! I'm glad you and your husband could enjoy some sunshine. :)
